µLEDs, which are about 100 times smaller than standard LEDs, constitute an emerging technology in the display manufacturing industry. They are already used for high-resolution small screens such as the one found in smartwatches.
Today’s display manufacturing technologies are not compatible with the production of fine pitch display of a TV size and based on µLED.
The project BAMBAM aims at developing a unique manufacturing technology using microprinting of electrical and optical structures to build very fine pitch displays based on active µLED pixels
Fine pitch, and low power screen in Europe
The manufacturing technology resulting from BAMBAM will provide a better energy efficiency for large displays, participating to energy savings, as well as a better picture quality.
Besides, this manufacturing technology will enable a renewal of the European display industry by removing the need for the thin film transistor arrays that control all LED displays nowadays. The whole manufacturing value chain will therefore be in Europe.

BAMBAM builds on cutting edge technologies, materials and processes brought together through an Eco design approach.
Specifications for materials, processes and demonstrator will by defined to meet end-users and regulations requirements. The performance of the technology will be regularly assessed.
